Who's Ready for a Vacation? - 01/08/14
I know it's my first full week back to work since the holidays, but I'm already craving a relaxing getaway. Anyone else? Honestly, my husband and I haven't felt the sand between our toes and the sun on our skin in nearly three years. If life really is a beach, were not really living.
Not wanting a SPRING BREAK kind of spring break, we are taking our time researching different destinations. If you have a favorite resort or sleepy beach town, I'd love to hear it. We just want to eat, drink, sleep and absorb as much vitamin D as possible in five days. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong.
There's a lot to consider. Look at the list of questions our travel agent sent us:
How many people are traveling?
What are the names (as they appear on passports) and birth dates of each passenger?
What airport(s) will each passenger be departing from?
What are your preferred travel dates?
Are your dates flexible?
Do you have any specific location(s) you are looking to stay?
What type of activities are important to you?
What type of accommodations do you like? (EX. Brand, Star Rating, All-Inclusive etc.)
How many rooms do you need?
Preferred bed type?
Do you have a preferred Airline?
Should I price Economy, Business or First Class airfare?
Do you have an overall budget for airfare, flights and preplanned activities?
Yikes! It'll be March by the time I answer all of these.
I would try to book a trip myself, but vacations are supposed to be relaxing. I don't want to spend hours on the computer after work Googling, reading endless reviews and price comparing. I'll whip myself into a frenzy and that's all before it sinks in that I have to
put on a bathing suit for the first time in six months! By the end I'll probably end up with a staycation (at least I could save all that money though).
For now, I'm looking forward to someplace like Mexico or the Dominican Republic, but it's still early. Let me know what you think!
