Agreement Finalized To Expand ACL Fest To 2 Weekends

Updated: Wednesday, October 10 2012, 09:29 AM CDT

It’s a done deal.  Next year the Austin City Limits Music Festival will last two weekends.

C3 Presents, organizers of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, announced Tuesday that it has a new agreement with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department to allow the festival to expand in 2013.

It will run Oct. 4-6 and Oct. 11-13, 2013 in Zilker Park.

“Every year we hear from longtime fans that they’ve missed out on buying tickets because of the speed at which the festival sells out,” says Charlie Jones, partner at C3 Presents. “The expansion will allow more people the chance to experience ACL, and we are grateful to the fans, the neighborhood associations, KLRU, and the City of Austin for their continued support of the Festival.”

Since 2006, the ACL Festival has provided $6 million to Austin’s parks for improvements and projects around the city.   The 2011 festival put an extra $106 million into the Austin economy over three days.

This year’s ACL Festival is Oct. 12-14. An estimated 225,000 fans are expected to attend.
