Jay-Z Livestreams SXSW Concert

On Tuesday SXSW will turn its attention toward the music community. More than 20,000 bands will descend upon our capital to perform on 90 stages. That’s just counting the official SXSW events.

To kick it all off, superstar Jay-Z preformed in front of about 2,000 fans, and the millions who wanted to be there but couldn’t make it had the chance to watch it all live online. They could even tweet song requests that the hip hop artist preformed.

The lucky fans who did get into the ACL Moody Theater were also part of the new social media experience from American Express. They not only had to have SXSW Interactive badges, they had to be American Express card members and have Twitter accounts. Once they synced their Amex card with their Twitter accounts, they were eligible for a pair of free tickets.

“It’s pretty innovative and collaborative promotion,” said Summer Katzenbach as she waited in line before the show. “It obviously got a lot of buzz.”
