"Neighbors"

Updated: Monday, June 2 2014, 01:03 AM CDT

The writers behind the funny film The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien, brings us a new funny film called Neighbors. I will admit that from the trailer, I thought the film would be rather dumb, but much to my surprise, the laughs kept coming. The SXSW audience was bursting with laughter throughout the film.

In Neighbors, Mac and Kelly Radner (played by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne) move into a nice neighborhood. With just having a newborn, they are ready for some quiet around them. Shortly after, the fraternity Delta Psi Beta moves in next door. Teddy (Zac Efron) is the president of the frat. When The Radners come over to welcome the guys to the neighborhood, the fraternity guys are friendly to them. The Randers even attend one of their parties. They make a pack that if the guys get noisy, that The Radners will always come to them first and not call the police. But after Mac has to ask the guys to lower the noise over and over again, he calls them anyway and the cop rats on Mac and Kelly. The fight begins where the frat starts playing pranks on The Radners, but it isn't over. Mac and Kelly comes up with a plan to get the guys off their street.

With Neighbors, you get what you expect. The plot is far fetched, because most neighborhoods have laws set in place that you can't have that many people unrelated living together keeping frats in another area of town. Funnyman Seth Rogen is just as funny as he always is. With an all-star cast that includes Dave Franco, Superbad's Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and The Mindy Project's Ike Barinholtz, it gives you a fun ride. However, Rose Byrne is the one who shines here. She has such a range jumping from horror to comedy and her scenes where she and her husband go to the frat party definitely makes this film worth a watch.
