Tickets Go on Sale This Friday for Austin Tour Stop of Billy Elliot the Musical

The Tony Award winner based on the hit film and featuring music by Elton John,  plays December 11th through 16th as part of the Broadway Across America-Austin during the 2012-13 Season.

Broadway Across America-Austin and Texas Performing Arts will host the Tony Award-winning musical Billy Elliot the Musical, playing December 11th through 16th at Bass Concert Hall.  Tickets for the Austin stop of the National Tour will go on sale Friday, September 14th, at 10 a.m.
The multi-award-winning musical is based on the international smash-hit film and features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry.  Set in a small town, the story follows the young Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a surprising talent that inspires his family and his whole community - and changes his life forever.
Billy Elliot the Musical celebrates one boy’s journey to make his dreams come true.  The musical has earned critical acclaim around the world and was the winner of ten 2009 Tony Awards - including "Best Musical."  The production has also been awarded 81 national and international awards, including "Best Musical" by the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle.
The touring production features direction by Justin Martin and choreography by Kathryn Dunn.  The production also features scenic design by Ian MacNeil, associate direction by Julian Webber, costume design by Nicky Gillibrand, lighting design by Rick Fisher and sound design by Paul Arditti.   Musical supervision and orchestrations are by Martin Koch. 
Performances in Austin will run Tuesday through Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.  Tickets start at $30.
