Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Awareness Month
-Each year DVT affects up to 2 million individuals in the United States, with 1 out of every 100 resulting in fatal complications.-DVT is the formation of blood clots (also known as thrombus) within the deep veins of the body.-The most common location for these clots to form are in the legs.-If these clots break loose and travel through the bloodstream, they can block flow of blood to the heart and lungs causing this condition to become extremely dangerous. -Bunker Vein & Imaging Center treats DVT scanning as a top priority.-If a physician refers a patient or an individual self refers for screening, Dr. Bunker will be able to rule DVT within moments of the patients arrival to the office.-March was declared DVT Awareness Month in 2005.-With resources provided by the Coalition to Prevent DVT, Bunker Vein & Imaging Center works to raise awareness about this potentially life threatening condition throughout the Austin Metro Area.
