Austin F1 Transportation Plan Announced
Updated: Friday, October 12 2012, 01:45 PM CDT
The Circuit of the Americas announced a plan Monday to help keep you from getting caught in traffic jams during November’s Formula One race.
"This comprehensive plan was designed and will be implemented by a team of experts that has managed transportation planning for some of the world’s largest sporting events, including the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Super Bowl, NBA Finals and NBA All-Star Weekends and the Kentucky Derby to name a few," Circuit President Steve Sexton said.
There will be free shuttles from three locations to the circuit track in Southeast Travis County.
People who live in Texas and have tickets can park at the Travis County Expo Center at no charge and take a shuttle from there.
There will also be a shuttle leaving from 15th Street and Trinity Street for out of state people staying downtown.
There is a paid parking lot at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, but that lot has already sold out.
The shuttles will travel around the major traffic jams in the usual spots along I-35, Hwy 71 and Hwy 183.
