100th Home Rebuilt In Bastrop

Updated: Tuesday, March 18 2014, 09:35 AM CDT

After three 3 years, Bastrop continues to rebuild. The 2011 devastating wildfires consumed 1,704 homes. Now thanks to thousands of helping hands, the Bastrop County Long Term Recovery Team is celebrating the completion of the 100th home to be rebuilt and the Reed family is the proud recipient.

This recovery would not be possible without a $1.5 million grant from American Red Cross, volunteers from Christian Aid Ministries Disaster Response Unit and other Christian ministries. This is the third year Christian Aid Ministries has returned to Bastrop to build homes and in total have worked on 65 of the 100 projects. They plan to complete 8 more homes in Bastrop County by the summer.

Officials with Bastrop County Long Term Recovery Team tell us there are still funds remaining to help out more families in need. To find out whether you qualify for aid contact the office at (512) 321-2868 or visit the office located at 1106 College Street, #C Bastrop, Texas.
