25th Victim Found Dead In WA Mudslide, 90 Still Missing

Updated: Thursday, March 27 2014, 06:14 AM CDT

Officials in Washington state say search crews have found an additional body in the debris field from Saturday's mudslide in the town of Oso about 55 miles northeast of Seattle.

That brings the numbers of bodies discovered to 25, but not all have been recovered.

Meanwhile, the Snohomish County medical examiner's office has released its first official identification of a victim. The medical examiner says 45-year-old Christina A. Jefferds of Arlington, Wash., died of blunt impact injuries.

The county's emergency management director John Pennington days the list of missing has been reduced to 90 people. Authorities are also looking into a list of 35 people who may or may not have been in the area at the time of last Saturday's slide.

Authorities have acknowledged they might have to leave some victims buried in the debris.
