Aerial Yoga Taking Over Austin

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 04:13 PM CDT

If you're bored with your normal workout routine, there's a new trend sweeping the nation. It's called aerial yoga and Austin is one of the few cities where you can experience.

Today our very own Ashley Miller tried it for the first time at Four Elements Yoga and Fitness at 314 Congress Avenue in Austin. People of all ages, genders and sizes can practice this yoga.

A light but strong fabric is used to help you push your yoga moves further, while assisting your body gently. Owner, Lydia Michelson-Maverick says she has many clinics who are intimidated by the fabric when they first walk into her studio, but they are ecstatic once they realize you can do aerial yoga at any level.

The exercise helps to burn lean muscle and for a 150 pound person it can burn 250 calories a class.

If you would like to try aerial yoga Four Elements Yoga and Fitness is offering KEYE viewers a 50% discount on their first class. Click the link below and type in KEYE.
