Updated: Thursday, April 10 2014, 08:01 AM CDT

Two family friendly events this weekend promise adventure and a dose of education. The 5th Annual Colorado River Ramble and Family Water Festival will take place on Sunday, April 13.

Together the Expedition School and Colorado River Alliance host the annual event. Organizers expect 250 outdoor enthusiasts to attend the event at Fiesta Gardens.

The free event kicks off at 9:00 am and is open to people of all ages. From 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm you can have fun on a kayak, canoe or paddle board for no charge. Races will run throughout the day. You can register at the event and prices start at $15.

In addition to fun in the water, organizers with the Family Water Festival will provide hands on activities to educate kids on water preservation and pollution.

Live music and food trailers will also be on site.
