APD Investigating Suspicious Death In NE Austin

Updated: Thursday, March 20 2014, 08:50 AM CDT
Austin Police tell KEYE TV they have now changed their focus in their investigation into the death of a woman in Northeast Austin, calling her death “suspicious”.

The woman’s body was found Wednesday evening inside a home in the 5800 block of Brook Valley Drive near Loyola and Highway 183.

According to police, they changed their focus when they found what they call visible trauma to the body. Police say the public is not in danger, however they won’t say why.

They are asking people to call Homicide or CrimeStoppers to help them figure out what happened. The Homicide Tip Line number is 512-477-3588.

Here’s what we do know: police came to the house around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. We’re told people in the home found the woman’s body and called 911.

Homicide detectives found trauma on the woman’s body and changed this to a suspicious death around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

“Detectives at our Homicide Unit will be talking to people at headquarters and just investigating,” said Sr. Ofc. Veneza Bremner of APD. “We'll wait for a final cause of death from the medical examiner's office, and that will determine where it goes from the suspicious death."

Right now police don’t have anyone in custody, nor do they have a specific person they are looking for.

It’s also still unclear at this time just how long police will remain on scene.APD Investigating Suspicious Death In NE Austin
