Austin Looking For A Greener Approach

Updated: Thursday, May 29 2014, 07:57 AM CDT

Later today, The City of Austin will host a first of its kind forum to bring recycling manufacturers and investors together to relocate in Austin.

Austin's Zero Waste program diverts waste from disposal and grows business and industries that can make new products out of recycled materials.

In all, ten companies will be competing to become the Capitol City's recycled material manufacturing hub. Among them will be two local start-ups, three national firms, one international company, and two local non-profits.

The Austin Recycling Innovations Investment Forum will be held at Austin City Hall, 301 W. 2nd Street, on Thursday, May 29, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
