Updated: Tuesday, May 20 2014, 10:43 AM CDT

A new musical comedy jam packed with Texas history opens up Wednesday at the Long Center. "Boomtown" is based on the most dangerous town in Texas during the 1920's.

Borger, Texas is where Frank Hamer, the killer of Bonnie and Clyde was head of the Texas Rangers and where 45,000 people rushed to get rich on oil.

The family friendly musical will be in the Rollins Theater at the Long Center. Performances start at 8:00 pm and run May 21-24. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for seniors and children.

The production is by Crank Collective a non-profit arts service organization, working to advance, connect, and celebrate Austin’s creative life.
