Colorado Ski Season Coming Up

Updated: Monday, September 17 2012, 11:09 AM CDT
Colorado ski season is upon us.  In fact, the mountains have already picked up a dusting of snow!

I had the chance to sit down with Jenn Rudolph, Communications Director for Colorado Ski Country.  We chatted about everything from when the season starts, what to expect this season in Colorado, and what to do before you plan a trip!  Bottom line...she's got me psyched to hit the slopes!

Here's a few pointers from our interview:

  • Jenn Rudolph says Texans love Colorado, and Colorado loves Texans! Bonus :)
  • Ski Season usually starts in early October and runs through May.  In fact, Rudolph tells me that Loveland is nearly 2 weeks away from the start of snow making.  And, a few years back, some were even skiing in their bikinis on the fourth of July!
  • Rudolph says there are may ski resorts in southern Colorado that are easy to drive to from Austin.  If you'd rather fly, she tells me there are direct flights from many major Texas airports, not only into Denver, but other resort areas as well.
  • With 26 ski resorts in Colorado, Rudolph says it's very possible to visit more than one resort all in one vacation.
  • This year there are many new features to look forward to including new resorts, night-time tubing, and mountain top dining.  There's plenty to do besides hitting the slopes!
  • Rudolph says to do the research before you book!  Go to ColoradoSki.com to check out the different resorts and find deals.  Once you find a resort you like, check out their webpage and social media channels to find package deals on tickets, rooms, and flights.
