Cool Schools, Vandegrift High School

Updated: Friday, November 8 2013, 08:26 AM CST

Vandegrift High School has made KEYE TV's list for Cool Schools. The Viper Band, Vision Dance, Viper Cheerleaders and the Legacies Dance Team wowed KEYE TV viewers with a spectacular performance on Friday. It's no surprise that the Viper Band and Vision Dance won the 2013 UIL Marching Band State Championship.

A number of student organizations were on hand to tell us about all their hard work and accomplishments. Right now Student Council and the Key Club are working together, building Christmas gifts for children less fortunate and will be distributing them through Operation Christmas Child. Students involved in PALS, which stands for peer assistance leadership service, also help children through weekly mentoring sessions.

We also learned about a pretty remarkable group called C2. Students who participate in this club strive to make sure all students are comfortable on campus and don't have to deal with bullying.

The Vandegrift Viperbots also graced us with their presence. Three years ago when the robotic extracurricular program started there were only four members. Now 72 students are involved. The robotics team placed third in the world competition last year and is hoping to place even higher this year. Good luck guys!

From all of us here on KEYE TV Morning News we'd like to send out a special thank you to all the students who woke up at the crack of dawn to perform for our viewers. Vandegrift, you really are a cool school.
