First Ever Summer Camp And Outreach Program By Austin Zoo And Animal Sanctuary

Updated: Wednesday, January 22 2014, 04:17 AM CST

For the very first time Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is able to bring animals to you. The zoo recently hired Greg Carter, a.k.a. Safari Greg, to be the zoo's Animal Ambassador and is now able to bring fury friends to schools, assemblies, corporate events and basically anywhere there's an audience.

This is a part of the zoo's education outreach program. They're hoping to not only inform the public about different species, but also to entice them to come visit the sanctuary. The sanctuary mainly operates on entrance fees and private donations.

This is also the first year Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary will offer a summer camp for children and teens. Zoocademy is an educational, week long summer camp from June 9 – August 1. Every week there will be a different theme like "Tales or Tails" and "Meet Our Inhabitants". Activities depend on your child's age group, but some activities you can expect include animal encounters, animal enrichment projects, photography class and scavenger hunts.
