Georgetown Art Center Opens For Business

Updated: Monday, October 28 2013, 08:59 AM CDT

A historic fire house from the 1800's has been transformed into a modern space in Georgetown. After popular demand the new Georgetown Art Center has opened.

You can see the buildings age on the exterior, but when you walk inside, crisp white walls really takes the space into the 21st century.  However, the architect chosen did leave little pieces of the 120 year old building exposed inside from old brick peeking through to a fireman's pole which has been modified into a staircase.

The art center is free to the public and includes a gallery in the front with world renowned exhibits. There's a gift shop further back and then a portion of the building has been set aside to hold art workshops. Some classes will be free to the public, but the majority of them will cost you a fee.

The Georgetown Art Center is located at 816 S. Main Street. For more information click on the link. http://www.georgetownartworks.org/
