Get Ready For Eeyore's Birthday Party

Updated: Wednesday, April 25 2012, 08:09 AM CDT
It's that time of the year to get your weird on. Pull out your costumes and come be a part of what organizers describe as Austin's funky version of a city-wide country picnic.  Now in it's 49th year, Eeeyore's Birthday Party is the 2nd longest-running event in Austin behind the 54-year-old Zilker Hillside Summer Musical.

Eeyore's started off in 1963 as a Spring picnic by some UT students and has evolved into an annual rite of Spring, always the last Saturday in April.  The live music, drum circles, folk singing and people watching is all free, and the vendors represent local non-profit organizations with all proceeds going back into the Austin community.

The fun starts 11:00am this Saturday, April 28, and continues until dusk.  Look for children's games and contests early in the day with the fun for the grownups catching on in the later hours.

Don't even think of trying to park at Pease Park. There is NO PARKING available at the park. Take the bus, ride a bike, walk, or take the FREE shuttle! You'll find free parking for the shuttle at the state parking garage E and lot 3 at 16th & Colorado where buses will shuttle you back and forth to the festival site.  Also Capital Metro bus #338 stops at Martin Luther King and Lamar just outside Pease Park.
