Haunted Jail In Georgetown Benefits Brown Santa

Updated: Friday, October 19 2012, 08:54 AM CDT
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office will transform a century old jail into a "haunted jail" for the fourth year in a row.

The jail was built in the 1800's and housed infamous criminals, the most notable serial killer Henry Lee Lucas.

Shows such as Ghost Hunters have captured partial legs and feet of ghosts on the second floor. Volunteers and officers say they have heard strange and unexplainable sounds.

New to the 2012 season an additional third floor was added.

General admission costs $10. Children under the age of 8 are not allowed. All proceeds benefit Brown Santa which provides Christmas presents to families and children in Williamson County. Last year the group raised $22,000. It helped 800 families and 2,000 children.

The Haunted Jail is open October 19-20 and Oct. 26-27 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. It located at 312 Main Street in Georgetown.
