Holiday Lighting For Your Home Inspired By Mozart's Light Show

Updated: Tuesday, December 3 2013, 08:43 AM CST

If you're looking to get in the holiday spirit, grab a cup of hot chocolate at Mozart's Coffee Roasters and watch the spectacular light show. For four years now, Mozart's owners have strung more than 500,000 Christmas lights on their waterfront property to create a musically synchronized light show.

You can view the light show on the hour Monday-Thursday until 12:00 am, Friday and Saturday until 1:00 am and Sunday until 12:00 am. The 12 minute light show is synchronized to classic Christmas songs and new music like Gangnam Style.

Co-owners, Katrine Formby and Stacey Leonard shared some decorating tips with us. They suggest going to your nearest hardware store and buying insulation board, double it and then use an electric saw to cut out a circle or other shapes like a candycane. Then string lights in the circle and attach with tape. You can attach the circles to your house for a fabulous holiday decoration and when you light them at night the lights will look like a million bucks. Fromby and Leonard also suggest using your icicle lights in a new way and hang them vertically from a tree for a great look. They saw you can even bunch lights together and hang from a tree for a cheap but beautiful holiday light display.

Mozart's and Hula Hut are also holding an annual Christmas Light Photo Contest. Send your entries to www.AllAboutTexasChristmasLights.com. First place wins an iPad, second place a $250 gift card to both Hula Hut and Mozart's, third place gets a $100 gift card to both and fifteen honorable mentions will receive a $25 gift card to both.
