Mack Brown Could Meet With UT President, Athletic Director Today

Updated: Friday, December 13 2013, 06:14 AM CST

Today Mack Brown could be meeting with the higher-ups at UT to discuss his future as head football coach after 16 seasons. That meeting could happen as soon as this morning. We're talking about a meeting between Coach Brown, UT President Bill Powers, and new athletic director Steve Patterson. After that, it's only a matter of time before we find out whether Coach Brown will be around for a 17th season. Coach Brown says this is a meeting he welcomes, though he did not specify when or where it would take place.

"Moving forward I'm looking forward to my meeting with Bill and with Steve, and we'll all get on the same page and move forward," said Brown in San Antonio Thursday during the Alamo Bowl press conference, before deflecting further questions about his future.

Powers himself gave a similar response after Thursday's Board of Regents meeting, where his own job was in question.

"We have not met," said Powers. "We will be meeting over the next short period of time, and I'll leave it at that."

Brown spent the rest of Thursday in Beaumont recruiting the same player Alabama head coach Nick Saban had been recruiting just the day before.

On Friday, Brown will see his players at the UT Football banquet for the first time since last weekend's Baylor loss. Sources in the Texas program tell KEYE-TV if Brown has indeed chosen to resign, it's his desire to share that with coaches and players in person.
