Millions Of Texans Expected To Travel For Thanksgiving

Updated: Wednesday, November 27 2013, 06:02 AM CST

Get your patience ready: Wednesday is the busiest travel day of the year. AAA officials say more than 3 million Texans will travel between Wednesday and Sunday.

The vast majority of them, 3.1 million, will be driving, with the rest traveling by air and water.

While those numbers might be slightly down from 2012 because of what the agency is calling "lingering economic concerns", the highways will still be packed, and the winter storm across the East Coast could mean problems for flyers.

It already has caused problems for Austin travelers earlier in the week.

Airport officials are urging travelers to get to the airport at least 90 minutes before their flight, allow more time to get to the airport because of traffic, and check their flight status before leaving the house.
