New Artisans & Acts At Pecan Street Festival

Updated: Monday, April 28 2014, 08:42 AM CDT

Preparations are underway for the Spring Pecan Street Festival to be held May 3 and 4 in Downtown Austin.

The festival will have more than 300 vendors and feature a number of new artisans such as Pet Studio Art by Stephanie Conrad. Conrad uses your pet's portrait to make one-of-a-kind paintings and necklaces. She also makes screen printed totes with pictures of adorable shelter animals.

Festivalgoers are encouraged to bring their dogs to stroll Sixth Street between Brazos Street and Interstate 35.

Proceeds from the Pecan Street Festival help benefit a number of local non-profits from Austin Animal Center to Mobile Loaves & Fishes. Back by popular demand is Mobile Loaves & Fishes' Roads Project. Through the project homeless artisans make bird houses, swings, paintings and their amazing Adirondack chairs that are famous for selling out quickly. The artisans receive 100% of the proceeds from their sold products.

Besides art from local and national artisans, the festival will also offer 60 musical acts at three different stages, family friendly activities, 30 food vendors and a first ever yoga flash mob presented by Practice Yoga Austin.

Practice Yoga Austin is a donation based studio located at 1103 E. Sixth Street. For more information on how you can join the flash mob, click here.
