New Product Uses Fish to Grow Food

Updated: Thursday, October 10 2013, 12:10 PM CDT

A new product on store shelves has shoppers taking a second glance. Aquafarm is a self-cleaning fish tank that grows food with the help of Beta Fish. It looks like a fish tank, but on top you can grow fresh herbs and even wheatgrass.

The fish's waste feeds the plants and the plants clean the water. It's a mini ecosystem in your kitchen. The Aquafarm includes organic seeds, a 3 gallon tank and a pump. You'll even get a coupon to buy a Beta Fish for 99 cents at Petco.

Whole Foods carries Aquafarm for $59.99.
