Part of Auditorium Shores To Re-Open Monday

Updated: Monday, June 2 2014, 07:43 AM CDT
On Monday, part of one of Austin's most popular parks is set to open after months of construction. The West Lawn of Auditorium Shores opens after a week-long rain delay, but the opening is just the beginning of a much larger renovation project.

The West Lawn will be the temporary off-leash area for dogs while crews finish the new, controversial off-leash area. On Tuesday, crews will break ground on the East Lawn renovation, and also in June, the new off-leash area for dogs. Many dog owners are upset that instead of having 18 acres to roam off-leash, their dogs will soon have less than five.

The entire Auditorium Shores renovation project should be finished in February 2015. C3 Presents, the festival organizer behind ACL Fest, is footing the $3.5 million bill.
