Raise a Cup Or Tub To Celebrate National Ice Cream Month

Updated: Thursday, July 12 2012, 07:40 AM CDT
In case it's not on your calendar; the third Sunday in July is National Ice Cream Day.  This year it falls on July 15th.  And the whole month of July is National Ice Cream Month.  It was proclaimed by President Reagan in 1984.  Ice Cream is a $10-Billion a year business with 2/3 of that money spent on take-home ice cream.

There are no big events to celebrate National Ice Cream Day.  Everyone celebrates it in their own way.  Longtime Texas ice cream maker Blue Bell is celebrating with the release of a couple of favorites including Christmas Cookies in July.  It's a sugar cookie flavored ice cream with chunks of holiday cookies like chocolate chip, snicker doodle, and festive red sprinkles and a green icing swirled throughout.  What's not to love?

And you can celebrate National Ice Cream Month on your smart phone or tablet.  There are free ice cream theme games like Glutton and Scoops where you catch ice cream falling from the sky.  A total time-killer.  But it gives you something to do while you eat your ice cream.
