Rattlesnake Fest This Weekend In Round Rock

Updated: Wednesday, March 5 2014, 10:14 AM CST

As spring approaches and temperatures warm, snakes will roam Texas lands once again.

And we can all benefit by learning a little bit more about them.

March 8-9 the Texas Rattlesnake Festival hopes to do just that at their no-kill, educational event sure to entertain the entire family.

Experts in the reptile industry will have venomous and non-venomous snakes and lizards on display. The Kentucky Reptile Zoo will even perform a live venom extraction while speaking on the many benefits of snake venom, including using it for cancer research.

The Rattlesnake Festival will run Saturday and Sunday in Round Rock, at the Dell Diamond's Heritage Center. There will be bounce houses for the kids, scavenger hunts, face painting, a playground and designated area to see, touch and feel harmless reptiles.

Tickets are $8 for adults, children 4-14 are $5 and 3 and under are free.
