Record Cold, Flight Cancellations Hit ABIA Overnight

Updated: Tuesday, January 7 2014, 08:51 AM CST
Record cold hit Austin-Bergstrom International Airport overnight Tuesday, hitting 15 degrees, breaking the record of 17 set in 1970. Many other cities around Central Texas saw temperatures in the teens and the low 20s early Tuesday.

While snow and ice have not hit Central Texas during this winter blast, they're causing plenty of problems at airports nationwide, including ABIA. Eight flights were cancelled Wednesday, most of them in the morning, including two each to New York and Chicago area airports.
