Round Rock Law Enforcement Hosts Fundraiser For Disabled Boy

Updated: Thursday, January 16 2014, 08:38 AM CST

The Round Rock Fire Department, Police Association and Smokey Mo's worked together to hold a special taco breakfast to benefit a local two year old with special needs.

Kai, or Super Kai, as people are calling him because he's overcome more than many adults, has required ongoing medical care since birth. He was born with Spina Bifida among other disabilities and sees the inside of a hospital every three months.

After seeing Super Kai's story on KEYE, the fire and police associations decided to organize a breakfast taco benefit. Thanks to a huge discount by Smokey Mo's Barbeque and donations by the associations, 2,000 tacos were ordered.

Thursday morning the public lined up at 7:00 a.m. ready to buy $2 tacos to help the Vieregge family. The goal was to raise $4,000 to help with staggering medical bills and to pay for a specialized wheelchair for Super Kai so he can attend preschool.

If you were unable to make it Round Rock fire station 5 to purchase tacos, you can still donate to this adorable boy. For more information on Kai's fundraiser log onto http://gogetfunding.com/project/super-kai-powered-wheelchair-plus.
