Small Radio Station Uses Big Names To Find Audience

Updated: Tuesday, April 17 2012, 09:29 AM CDT
Think of it as David versus Goliath.  A small town radio station is going up against the big guys and their using some big name talent to do it.  KDRP is a community radio station based in Dripping Springs.  It reaches a wide audience from the southwest part of Austin to as far west as Fredericksburg.

The station is building an audience with its emphasis on Texas music and radio personalities who used to ride the top of the Austin ratings.  Larry Monroe, who hosted the popular Blue Mondays and Phil Music programs on KUT, is now on the air at KDRP where he’s enjoying creative freedom.  And Sammy Allred, who topped the ratings at KVET, has found a weekly outlet for his brand of commentary and comedy.

KDRP is a community station from the ground up counting on volunteers to contribute the programming and listeners to support the shows with their donations.  You can find them on 103.1 in the immediate Dripping Springs area or FM 100.1 in the Texas Hill Country, FM 99.1 in Fredericksburg… and of course on line.
