Weighing In On Traffic Troubles

Updated: Wednesday, September 25 2013, 05:53 AM CDT
Around 269,000 people make their way into Central Austin every single day, and with around 100 people per day also moving into the Austin region, the city and area transportation leaders are asking for your help in figuring out how to keep Central Texas moving.

You can give them your two cents later Wednesday as they kick off public input meetings for Project Connect Central Corridor study.

Right now, transportation officials have put several options on the table: I-35 toll lanes, urban and commuter rail, and express buses for Central Austin.

Across the Central Texas region, they're also looking at rail from Georgetown to San Antonio, as well as possibly out to Elgin, Taylor, and Austin Bergstrom, plus more toll lanes along the area's major highways.

If you want to weigh in tonight, head to Austin Community College South Austin Campus between 5-8 p.m. It's located at 1820 West Stassney Lane. If you can't make it, Project Connect will hold meetings Thursday and next week.
