World Cup Sparks Protests In Brazil

Updated: Friday, March 14 2014, 07:59 AM CDT

Police presence intensifies at World Cup protests in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

An estimated 1,500 demonstrators are taking over the streets of downtown.

Local reports say anywhere between 1,700 to 2,000 officers are now on-hand.

They’re demanding more money be spent on education, health care, public transportation and fighting crime.

These protests come three months before the game's official kick off on June 12.

At this time the United States is expected to send a team to the World Cup.
