Austin Mayor Declines Proposal To Host 2016 DNC

Updated: Wednesday, February 26 2014, 06:04 PM CST

Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell declined Wednesday a proposal for the city to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

He said his decision to decline was based on two things: no big bowl seating arena, and uncertainty if the city could meet the transportation requirement.

A DNC in Texas could still happen in 2016. San Antonio is also under consideration.
