Can Davis Bring Texas Democrats To The Polls?

Updated: Tuesday, March 4 2014, 06:43 PM CST

State Senator Wendy Davis is hoping her name recognition will bring voters out to Tuesday's Democratic primary election and build a rising tide that will give her a fighting chance to become Texas Governor against Attorney General Greg Abbott.

Turnout is important on the Democratic side. In the last race for Texas Governor only 680,000 votes were cast statewide in the Democratic primary -- compared with close to 1.5 million on the GOP side.

Davis only faces one opponent -- Reynaldo Madrigal. Davis is expected to win, but the big question is if her popularity will bring more Democratic supporters to the polls for the primary than four years ago.

We'll update this story as we learn the election results.
