Dueling Protests Clash At Capitol Over Immigration

Updated: Thursday, August 7 2014, 07:28 PM CDT

It was an emotional scene at the ground of the Texas State Capitol Thursday afternoon during protests over immigration.

Our cameras rolling when dueling rallies of activists from both sides collided on the steps of the capitol building.

One a travelling group from California demanded action to secure the border and send undocumented immigrants back home. The other -- a counter-protest -- called for immigration reform.

"We're here to show that, yes, we are against their brand of bigotry and ignorance. But we're also standing for the children, standing for the refugees and undocumented here in this country," said chris Ledesma, who wants immigration reform.

"We're gonna go to the border and patrol the border because when we go down to patrol the border, the drug trafficking stops and the illegal immigration stops. We're gonna patrol the border and assist the border patrol agents," said pete santilli, who wants to secure the border.

The California group tells us their next stop is the Rio Grande Valley.
