GOP Runoff In District 25 A Scramble For Votes

Updated: Saturday, July 28 2012, 11:23 AM CDT
(AP) -- Roger Williams, a Weatherford car dealer and longtime Republican fund raiser, faces retired Army lieutenant colonel Wes Riddle in the Republican primary runoff in Texas' new congressional District 25.

Voter turnout is expected to be low. Both candidates have spent the last week traveling the 11-country district that stretches from the Austin area to just south of Fort Worth to meet voters in person.

Williams was Gov. Rick Perry's secretary of state from 2005-2007. He says the economy is the top issue and his 40 years in business gives him the experience needed to turn things around.

Riddle, one of the state's first tea party organizers, says Williams' business experience is overrated. He has tried to cast Williams as the kind of political insider that causes voters to distrust Congress.GOP Runoff In District 25 A Scramble For Votes
