Judge Extends Voting Time In Travis Co.

Updated: Tuesday, March 4 2014, 04:40 PM CST

A judge has extended time for people to make it to the polls in Travis County after it was delayed Tuesday morning due to freezing weather.

Wintry conditions in parts of Central Texas delayed the normal 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. polling site times in the Austin area -- specifically Travis County.

All Travis County offices, including polling locations, delayed opening until 11 a.m. due to the inclement weather.

The County Clerk for Travis County requested an extension from a judge. Closing time is now set at 9 p.m.

Votes placed after 7 p.m. will be considered provisional ballots and will be counted the next day.

Travis County Clerk Dana Debeauvoir says it may take up to five days to get the final count results of the provisional ballots.
