More Than 13M Texans Have Registered To Vote

Updated: Tuesday, May 29 2012, 02:36 PM CDT

(AP) -- Election officials say more than 13 million Texans have registered to vote going in the primary elections.

Rich Parsons with the secretary of state's office encouraged voters who did not cast ballots early to go to the polls Tuesday.

Parsons told The Associated Press that the office is not making voter turnout projections for the primaries. He also urged voters to verify their precinct and polling place because of possible changes due to redistricting.

Early voting began May 14 and ended Friday.

The secretary of state's office, on its website, indicated nearly 566,000 voters cast ballots early in person or by mail in the 15 largest counties in Texas: Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Bexar, Travis, Collin, El Paso, Denton, Fort Bend, Hidalgo, Montgomery, Williamson, Nueces, Galveston and Cameron.More Than 13M Texans Have Registered To Vote
