AISD Nurses Available this Week to Check on Immunization Status

Updated: Monday, August 18 2014, 08:28 AM CDT

Dell Children's Medical Center reminding parents to get children up-to-speed with vaccinations

The countdown is on: the Austin Independent School District resumes classes next Monday. Many families are rushing to check off their last-minute "to do" list and one of those items might include getting up-to-date on immunizations.

Dr. Stephen Pont, a pediatrician with Dell Children's Medical Center, says immunizations are a state requirement and they are the best way to keep our kids healthy throughout the school year. He says they are very important in preventing very serious diseases. Dr. Pont also notes that very few things in the medical field have been tested as much as immunizations, so for parents that worry about the effects of these shots, such as Autism, he says no studies have shown a link between the two.

AISD is holding an orientation today and nurses will be available all week long to check on shot records or answer any questions you might have.

Just call 512-324-0195 to make an appointment.
