Area Health Care Provider Cuts Staff, Services

Updated: Saturday, May 31 2014, 09:49 AM CDT

An area healthcare provider has laid off staff and reduced or eliminated a number of services.

Georgetown-based Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC) announced it has let go 92 employees, bring total cuts 185 since the beginning of the month.  46 of those were involved in direct patient care.  The cuts and reductions are being called “steps to secure its sustainability”.

The company also consolidated one clinic site, significantly reduced its dental service and eliminated optometry services.

LSCC plans to close its Capital Plaza location as well.

Interim CEO Rhonda Mundhenk stated “Lone Star Circle of Care’s patients are and will continue to be our highest priority. While extremely difficult, these reductions were necessary to protect and preserve the majority of services for our patients.  On behalf of LSCC, I would like to acknowledge the service of all staff affected by these difficult but necessary changes.”
