CapMetro Testing New MetroRapid Route

Updated: Monday, July 14 2014, 05:33 PM CDT

Capital Metro is testing out its new MetroRapid 803 Route ahead of its launch in August.

Route 803 stretches 15 miles from The Domain to Westgate Mall, through the University of Texas and downtown.

The new 803 Route launches August 24.

Linda Watson, CapMetro's CEO says, "803 is similar to the 801, however this route travels from Westgate shopping center all the way up to Domain. It hits some major destinations in this community."

The MetroRapid buses have free wifi and get to drive in transit priority lanes.

The buses are also equipped with new technology to keep the drivers on time, and allow green lights to stay green longer, should they get behind schedule.

A single ride on the MetroRapid costs $1.50 and a day pass is $3. There are also seven day and 31 day passes available.
