Colorado Gamers Victims Of 'Swatting', Caught On Camera

Updated: Saturday, August 30 2014, 12:32 PM CDT

Colorado police are trying to figure out who made a prank call that prompted a massive SWAT team response in Littleton.

It is the latest incident in what is known as “swatting”.  An office building had to be evacuated and nearby schools had to be placed in lock-down.

A video was posted on YouTube showing gamer Jordan Mathewson looking over his shoulder and stating that he thinks he and his friends are being “swatted”.

Seconds later, the SWAT team barges in and takes them into custody.

Police are seeing an increase in these types of calls but are beginning to pick up on signs that the calls are not legitimate.

“We are not getting calls from neighbors or multiple people like we typically would if it was, let's say, an active shooter situation,” stated Detective Ryan McKone with Lakewood Police.

Police say the prank callers leave a digital trail behind.
