Dozens Camp Out Overnight For President Obama Tickets

Updated: Tuesday, July 8 2014, 03:56 PM CDT
Dozens of people lined up overnight Monday into Tuesday morning in downtown Austin for the chance to see President Obama speak at the Paramount Theatre on Thursday. Some of the people at the front had reportedly been there since 5 p.m. Monday, with the line growing to hundreds and wrapping around the block by 7 a.m.

President Obama is scheduled to speak about the economy on Thursday at noon at the Paramount Theatre, but the topic on many people's minds, both in line overnight and across Texas, is immigration; specifically, what to do about the surge of unaccompanied children crossing the border illegally. Governor Rick Perry has declined the President's offer to meet at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Wednesday. He says he wants a more "substantive meeting".

If you want to hear President Obama speak, the White House is giving out a few free tickets on a first-come, first serve basis, starting at 8:30 a.m. The President will attend fundraisers before Thursday's speech.
