DPS Investigating Fatal Multi-Car Accident In Hays County

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal multi-car accident in Hays County that occurred Friday afternoon.

According to DPS, at approximately 12:41 p.m. Friday on Highway 80, a 2005 Dodge Neon struck a 2013 Nissan Altima from behind as the Altima was attempting to turn left onto County Road 101. The Altima was pushed onto incoming traffic where it was struck on its passenger side by a 2003 Ford F-150 and a 2013 Toyota Yaris.

A 2009 Chevy Tahoe DPS unit was struck by flying debris from the crash as well.

Christopher Bauman, 25, of The Woodlands, died as a result of the accident.

Four people were transported to UMC Brackenridge and are in unknown condition, according to a DPS spokesperson.

The driver of the Neon, which struck the Neon from behind and pushed it into traffic, is being investigated for intoxication manslaughter.
