Firework Sales Increase Without Burn Ban In Effect

Updated: Sunday, June 29 2014, 06:51 PM CDT

Wet weather means a big boost in firework sales for central Texas.

Since there's no burn ban in effect for July 4th, bottle rockets and sparklers are flying off the shelves.

It's the first time in almost a decade there are no burn ban restrictions and fireworks businesses say they are seeing huge sales.

As Fourth of July approaches, firework stands across central Texas are packed with customers.

For years the ground has been too dry and the risk of fire too great to set of fireworks in most areas around Austin.

But this year with all the recent rains people can take full advantage of what these firework stands have to offer.

Austin still has rules in place banning firing works in city limits but they can be used on county property
