Gov. Perry Expected To Turn Himself In Tuesday Afternoon

Updated: Tuesday, August 19 2014, 04:33 PM CDT
(AP/KEYE) Gov. Rick Perry will surrender to authorities around 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Travis County Courthouse.

Perry will be booked and have his mugshot and fingerprints taken.

According to Perry's office, he will make statements before entering the court house and after he leaves.

Perry was indicted Friday on two felony counts of coercion and official oppression for promising to veto $7.5 million for the state public integrity unit run by the Travis County district attorney's office.

The governor threatened the veto if District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg stayed in office after a drunken driving conviction.

Lehmberg wouldn't resign, and Perry carried out the veto, drawing an ethics complaint.

Perry has dismissed the case a political ploy.
