Hotel Evacuated In Downtown Austin

Overnight guests staying at the Holiday Inn off IH 35 in downtown Austin were evacuated Monday morning.


A fire was first reported around 2:15 a.m. It turned out to be an overheating generator.


Austin Fire evacuated all 200 guests as a precaution.


They had to be taken to other area hotels.


The power was out for several hours as Austin Energy worked to replace a transformer.
