Leander Police: Son Saved Mom From Kidnapping

Updated: Wednesday, August 6 2014, 10:34 PM CDT

Tucked away in a quite Leander neighborhood a mom and her four kids were fast asleep and had no idea a terrible a terrible nightmare was about to unfold.

Luis Castillo said his mom's ex-boyfriend, Taide Jaimes-Garcia, broke into their house around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Castillo said the ex-boyfriend kidnapped his mom from her bed and pulled her out of her home against her will.

Castillo said Jamies-Garcia then sped-off with his mom in the truck down the street and on to the highway.

"We are all asleep, and I hear my sister screaming, 'He took her, he took her,'" Castillo said. "My brother and me jumped out of bed."

Castillo stayed behind to watch his other younger siblings and call 9-1-1.

Castillo said he told his other brother to get in the car and follow Jaimes-Garcia and his mom.

Castillo said his brother told him that at one point the chase got up to 145mph, and said his brother did not have a cell phone in the car to call the police with their location.

The Leander Police Department said eventually the ex-boyfriend pulled over near Loop 360, and that's when the mom escaped and  jumped to safety in her son's car.

The dangerous high speed chase is not something Leander Police said they would ever recommend but, tonight a mom is safe and alive thanks to her family's relentless rescue.

"If it were any other person's family member I'm sure they would do the same thing too," Castillo said.

Jaimes-Garcia is in the Williamson County Jail. He has been charged with burglary with intent to commit a felony, which is a higher charge than kidnapping and a first degree felony.
