ORIGINAL STORY:

Georgetown Police are looking into the death of a man at Lake Georgetown. The 28-year-old man was swimming with friends when he went under the water around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. As of early Monday morning, police have not released the victim's name.

The victim's friends reportedly tell police he seemed like he was having trouble treading water before he went under. His friends called 9-1-1 then kept going into the water to try to find him. It took about 10 minutes, but they eventually did and pulled him to shore to start CPR. When emergency responders got there they took over on CPR and took him to Seton Medical Center Williamson, where he was pronounced dead around 9:30 p.m.

While it's not illegal to swim near the shoreline, lake officials warn against it simply because it's difficult to know how deep the water is and what's underneath. They say if you do go on the water, be sure to wear a life jacket.
